Making History
We’re thrilled to announce our new endeavor utilizing Vence Virtual Fencing! The data collected will be shared with the University of Arizona. We here at JH Cattle Co take pride in furthering ranching practices to better the lives of ranchers and cattle. We strive for humane treatment and care for our livestock as well as land health. Vence Virtual Fencing will play a substantial role in our mission.

What is virtual fencing?
John will be able to set virtual fence lines from his tablet. The fence lines can be adjusted as needed to include or exclude specific areas.
How do the cows know the where the fence line is?
Each cow will be fitted with a CattleRider collar equipped with GPS to track their position. The cattle learn if they come to the fence boundary, the collar will emit a sound that cues them to move away from the boundary. If the sound isn't effective, the collar will activate an animal-safe and humane electric pulse to move them from the boundary.
Why is this important?
There are numerous reasons why this groundbreaking technology will change the lives of ranchers and cattle everywhere.
-
John will be able to see the animals location whether it is inside or outside of the boundary
-
Boundaries can be set and redrawn in order to rotation the cattle's grazing areas or to keep them out of environmentally sensitive areas
-
Track a cows status based on their movement and activity
-
Allows John to monitor environment and health in order to adjust grazing areas to improve soil health and grasslands
-
Brush fires are inevitable, with virtual fencing John will be able to move cattle to safe areas away from danger
-
A common problem is when the public leaves gates open and the cattle can walk into the road causing deadly collisions. Now, the fencing will direct the cattle away from roads keeping them and the community safe.
