Our commercial cattle herd grazes across approximately 70,000 acres of Arizona's high desert, thriving on a natural diet of desert grasses, prickly pear, and mesquite beans. The forage includes native grasses such as Tobosa, Side Oats, and Gramma, along with annual varieties like Filaree, Indian Wheat, wild oats, and wild rye. We currently utilize nine Pharo bulls in our herd, prized for their calving ease, exceptional back fat, and intramuscular fat, outperforming average grass-fed cattle. These bulls also enhance the herd’s meat quality by improving tenderness and ribeye shape scores, resulting in superior beef.
Meet the Rancher
John Holbrook has been grazing cattle on the Copper Creek and Horseshoe allotments for over a decade. In 2015, he was honored as the Wildlife Habitat Steward of the Year, a recognition awarded by Arizona Game and Fish for his proactive efforts in supporting wildlife, preserving the land, and maintaining the health of his cattle. Known for their quality, John’s cattle are highly sought after by other ranchers as replacement stock and by grass-fed beef producers.
