Fourteen years ago, John Holbrook envisioned managing cattle across the open range of Cave Creek, Arizona. His aspirations went far beyond traditional ranching; he sought to leverage his herd to enrich the local rangeland ecosystem. By partnering with various agencies, John deepened his understanding of sustainable practices, embracing techniques like wildfire prevention through thoughtful grazing and enhancing riparian areas with his well-managed cattle. In 2015, he was honored as the Wildlife Habitat Steward of the Year, awarded by Arizona Game and Fish for his proactive efforts in supporting wildlife, preserving the land, and maintaining the health of his cattle. Known for their quality, John’s cattle are highly sought after by other ranchers as replacement stock and by grass-fed beef producers.
