Frequently Asked Questions

How are your Highland and Dexter cattle bred?
Our Highlands and Dexters are carefully bred with a focus on temperament, health, conformation, and breed standards. We prioritize calm, well-handled animals that are suitable for both family farms and small operations.
Do you offer purebred or crossbred calves?
We offer both purebred and intentional crossbred calves, depending on availability. Crosses are thoughtfully planned to combine the strengths of both breeds, such as hardiness, size, and efficiency.
What traits do you select for in your breeding program?
We select for:
Gentle disposition
Structural soundness
Breed-appropriate size
Fertility and ease of calving
Overall health and longevity
Are your calves handled regularly?
Yes. Our calves are handled from an early age, helping them become calm, curious, and comfortable around people. This makes them easier to manage and ideal for family or hobby farms.
Do you offer breeding rights or registered animals?
Availability varies. Some animals may be eligible for registration or breeding rights depending on pedigree and individual evaluation. Please contact us directly for current offerings.
Can I reserve a calf before it’s born?
No, all calves are unavailable for purchase until weaned, some personalities and temperament change. Due to this, we do not sell or allow the holding calves until the calf is ready to be sold. Reach out to discuss upcoming calves and availability.

Our Highlands used for photography are calm, well-handled, and accustomed to people. However, they are still livestock, so all interactions are guided, and rules must be followed at all times.
Do we provide the photographer?
You may bring your own photographer or use us. We have over twenty years' experience handling our cattle to ensure your session, fun, safe, and you get a lasting memory! If you chose to bring your own photographers, they must agree to our safety and handling guidelines before the session and fee does apply.
What should we wear for a photo session?
Neutral tones, earth colors, and simple patterns photograph best with the Highlands. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety.
How do we book a session?
Photography sessions are by appointment only. Please contact us in advance to discuss dates, group size, and any special requests.
